Elisabeth Mézières (France)
I was born in 1963 in the south of France, where I still live. My workshop is located in the heart of the Cévennes mountains. I started woodturning about twenty years ago by making tableware. I quickly became passionate about creating new models, trying to combine aesthetics with utility, and set up as a professional in 2006. My work is guided by the observation of local woods, by the desire to work them green and as finely as possible so that their natural deformations bring me an elegance and poetry I could not do without, thus revealing the beauty of these often undervalued species. I also work with hackberry wood, making it translucent, carved, and bleached, drawing inspiration from seashells.
Alain Mailland (France)
In his workshop in the heart of the Gard region, Alain Mailland is one of those who reveal the beauty of the treasures found in the scrubland: heather, strawberry tree, cade, pistachio, hackberry, dogwood, privet, and buckthorn, among many others.
